Rainforest Awareness Month Cell Phone Donation Drive - May 2008

As one of the key initiatives during their May 2008 Rainforest Awareness Month, the Rainforest Foundation US have launched a cell phone recycling drive in partnership with Recycling for Charities.

Wireless Electronic recycling RFC

Encouraging local action which has international impact is a key element of RA Month.

This will limit electronic waste in our communities and support our work with indigenous communities in rainforest areas.

All of the waste we dispose of affects the health of our planet. One of the most toxic types of waste generated is e-waste.

Electronic waste poses a serious environmental threat. Toxic chemicals leach out of discarded devices like mobile phones, PDA's and digital cameras into the soil and groundwater leading to the damaging of ecosystems and health problems in humans.

You can make a difference !

E-Waste Recycling

Collecting cell phones, PDAs, iPods and digital cameras regardless of working condition is a great way for you and your school, company, church group, or community center to support our important rainforest protection work and ensure that the toxic chemicals from the electronic equipment are kept out of the landfills. We need your help to make it a success !
