Cobb County Habitat for Humanity and Recycling for Charities

Team up to collect unwanted electronics

COBB COUNTY , GA - November 28, 2005, Cobb County Habitat for Humanity and Recycling for Charities (RFC) are teaming up to collect unwanted cellular phones, Palm Pilots and digital cameras to benefit Cobb County Habitat for Humanity's building efforts.

For each cell phone, pager, PDA or digital camera collected, Cobb County Habitat for Humanity will receive a monetary donation. Donations can be dropped off at the Cobb County Habitat office at 1625 Spring Road, Smyrna , GA or you can donate anytime online at www.recyclingforcharities.com. All makes and models, regardless of working condition will be accepted. Phones must be deactivated before they are donated.

The recycling program benefits both non-profit organizations by preventing electronic waste from gathering in landfills where it can harm the environment, while also collecting revenue for charity. Cellular phones and other small electronic devices such as pagers, PDA's, and iPods contain toxins such as lead and mercury that can leak out of landfills and contaminate sources of drinking water. The money from each unit collected is divided between Cobb County Habitat for Humanity and RFC.

"This partnership not only benefits the Cobb County Habitat for Humanity but it helps keep the environment clean as well which is RFC's main goal. We are proud to be working to support such a worthy cause," Said Dwight Zahringer, co-founder of Recycling for Charities.

Cobb County Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit Housing Ministry dedicated to the elimination of substandard housing in Cobb County . To learn more about there current building projects please visit the website at http://www.cobbhabitat.org .

RFC (www. recyclingforcharities.com) handles all collected electronic waste responsibly with the wellbeing of the environment as the primary concern. RFC is a non-profit organization that allows individuals to donate cell phones to charity, as well as PDA's, Palm Pilots and digital cameras, in an effort that benefits the cause of their choice and the environment at large. For every charity phone donation one provides, RFC donates half they receive and give the other to the foundation or cause selected. All RFC donations are tax-deductible.
