Gandhi Worldwide Education Institute
A little about us: In May of 2008, the Institute was founded in the United States by Arun Gandhi, grandson of M.K. Gandhi, to promote community building in economically depressed areas of the world through the joining of Gandhian philosophy and vocational education for children and their parents. The primary project underway by the Institute is the creation of the Gandhi Memorial School in Kolhapur, India. Built on the shoulders of the Avani residential school for children, the Gandhi Memorial School will partner with the Avani Foundation and expand its courageous work. Five acres of land have been acquired in the village Nandwan, about six kilometers from the city of Kolhapur. The hope is to build a comprehensive campus with residential quarters, classrooms, laboratories, workshops for various kinds of vocational training, handicraft classes and subsistence farming and a dairy. The Gandhi Worldwide Education Institute is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt institution and all donations are tax deductible.
